SymbolChooser is a word processor, meaning you can use the application to create text documents just like you would with Microsoft Word for example. The thing is though that SymbolChooser is a word processor that puts the emphasis on constructed language. You can create text documents in any language, even made up ones. That’s because the application features custom symbol creation functionality. You can create symbols and assign them to keys.

The system requirements for running SymbolChooser are: 1GB of RAM memory or more, 5MB of free disk space, Windows operating system (anything from Windows 2000 onward).
To get SymbolChooser up and running you will have to download and run a 5.6Mb executable. A setup wizard will show up and it will guide you through the installation process.

The interface is just what you would expect from a word processor. The main panel presents the text you’re working on. Above it there’s a File Menu and a toolbar for various functions SymbolChooser has to offer. Overall, it is a simple layout, one you will immediately feel at home with.

Putting the focus on functionality now, from the aforementioned interface you can access the following features: create new symbols, assign new symbols to keys, create text using your new symbols, convert a text document into a SymbolChooser document, save documents as PDF, print out the document, undo/redo, find, find & replace, play with the formatting.

SymbolChooser is not free, it is only free to try. A prompt will show up every time you launch the trial version and remind you of this fact.

Create symbols, assign them to keys, and have fun with constructed language.

Pros

The system requirements for running SymbolChooser are very low; installing the application is an effortless task. The interface is just what you would expect from a word processor. You can create symbols and assign them to keys. Documents can be saved as PDF. Text documents can be converted.

Cons

Trial limitations.
